Individual therapy for adults

Sessions are 50 minutes and $200, in person in Philadelphia (Fishtown) and Malvern, PA, or online. We’ll figure out how often to meet together, and longer sessions are available by arrangement.

Who I work with

Mostly adults who are doing well on paper and still want something to change. Many are adult children of alcoholics, or grew up in homes where you had to read the room to stay safe. The roles we learn in families like that tend to follow us into work and love. I also see people in long-term recovery.

Many of the people I see are therapists or others in the helping professions. A lot of them have been taking care of people since they were kids, and it wears on you in ways that can be hard to put words to.

How I work

My work is psychodynamic and experiential. Much of it is conversation, looking at the patterns you keep repeating and where you learned them. I’m also trained in psychodrama, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and EMDR, and we bring those in as they fit.

I like helping people’s lives feel softer and more peaceful, with more ease, even when we’re still living life on life’s terms.

Getting started

Send me a short note through this form about what’s bringing you in, and whether you’d like to meet in person or online. If it sounds like a fit, we’ll have a brief phone call before a first session. If it doesn’t, I’ll try to point you somewhere better.

Questions

Do you take insurance?
I don’t work directly with insurance, but I can provide a monthly superbill if you have out-of-network coverage. Some clients get partial reimbursement that way. If you’re not sure, check with your plan.

Do you offer online sessions?
Yes. All of my methods work online as well as in person.

Do you see couples or families?
No, I only see individuals. If you’re looking for couples or family therapy, I’m glad to suggest someone.

Is this a fit if I’m newly sober?
If you’re in your first months of recovery, a program with more structure is usually the better place to start. I work with many people in long-term recovery.

Do you offer intensives?
Longer sessions are possible by arrangement, so ask if that’s what you’re looking for.
